A transaction processor provides the server-side business logic that operates on assets within a network. Hyperledger Sawtooth supports pluggable transaction processors, that are customizable based on the specific application. Businesses are able to develop transaction processors that do exactly what their applications need. Additionally, transaction processors can be written in a variety of languages (Java, Python, C, C++, JavaScript, and Go), allowing for ease of use and simplicity when handling assets. Each node within the Hyperledger Sawtooth network runs a transaction processor. This transaction processor processes incoming transactions submitted by authorized clients. In Hyperledger Sawtooth, the Sawtooth SDK allows programmers to focus on developing application logic, as opposed to building communication mechanisms between transaction processors. Later in this chapter, in the Writing an Application section, you will be able to explore how exactly transaction processors interact with a client and other Hyperledger Sawtooth elements. |
